Our candles are handcrafted and made from 100% beeswax from Western Australia. Our candles are unscented. Beeswax candles emit a natural honey aroma without the use of any fragrance.
Beeswax is a renewable resource. No toxic petro-chemical by-products are released during the harvest, refining processes or burning of beeswax candles. Beeswax candles have been highly sought after throughout history—they burn with a warm glow, are long burning and virtually smoke-free.
Beeswax from Western Australia is unique as the beekeeping industry in the State is relatively free of the beehive diseases found in other parts of the world requiring beekeepers to treat bees with drugs and chemicals. In Western Australia this results in a pesticide, drug and chemical free wax. To protect the local industry strict quarantine controls restrict apiary products from entering Western Australia.
There's been a lot written about the value of bee products - from pollen, propolis, natural honey, royal jelly and beeswax. Fingers crossed that we can sustain a population of honey bees in the world as we grow more knowledgeable about climate change and the effect that our lifestyles have on plant and animal life.
There has also been a lot written about the benefits of burning beeswax candles - Mother Nature's natural was and air purifyer by virtue of its negative ionisation properties. Thankfully, people are waking up to this and the other quality products that this wonderful creature gives us. The phenomenon has been reported in 27 states, Europe, Central and South America. The suspected causes for Colony Collapse Disorder range from cellular phone towers to genetic modified organisms to pesticides”. New York Times April 2007.
